The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has appointed former National President of the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, Comrade Kabir Gusau, as the pioneer Managing Director of the Gusau International Airport.
The approval was announced in Gusau by the Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who said the appointment is part of efforts by the administration to ensure effective coordination and operational readiness of the airport ahead of the commencement of flight operations.
In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the SSG, Sulaiman Ahmad Tudu, the government said the airport is expected to enhance international connectivity, attract investment and stimulate economic growth in the state and the country.
Gusau is an aviation professional with more than three decades of experience in aviation operations and airspace management.
During his career, he held several strategic positions, including Airspace Manager at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, in Gombe and Special Assistant to the agency’s Managing Director.
Until his appointment, he served as General Manager, Aeronautical Information Services, AIS, at the headquarters of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA in Abuja.
Governor Lawal urged the new Managing Director to bring his wealth of experience to bear in ensuring effective coordination and seamless operations at the airport in line with international aviation standards.
