SARMAAN REYNOLD DELIVERING AZITHRMYCIN

CHUKS OKOH

The Safety and Antimocrobial Resistance of Mass Administration of Arithromycin in Nigeria (SARMAAN) is driving political ownership, operational alignment and community trust in Kano State and Sokoto States in the implementation of Project beyond delivering Azithromycin

Through the leadership of Sightsavers as an implementing partner, Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation (ACSM) has emerged as far more than a supporting function. It is the engine driving political ownership, operational alignment, and most importantly community trust.

In Kano, ACSM took centre stage during the SARMAAN II Round 3 pre-planning meeting. High-level government leaders, technical teams, and partners aligned around a shared goal: ensuring no community is left behind.
By leveraging trusted polio platforms, experienced grassroots mobilisers, and embedding lessons from previous rounds, the state is strengthening its ability to generate demand, counter misinformation, and deliver at scale.

In Sokoto, ACSM is shaping the landscape through strategic advocacy at the highest levels of leadership. From commitments to gubernatorial flag-offs to strengthening engagement with LGA Chairmen and traditional rulers, ACSM is acting as a bridge connecting political will with community action.
The alignment is critical in building visibility, accountability, and sustained momentum.

Across both states, Sightsavers ensure to transform partnerships into coordinated action, and plans into measurable impact.
