The national president of Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), Chief Stephen Udezi, has admonished newly inducted members of the profession to be good ambassadors of the institute.
This is just as he revealed that the revalidation of members certificates will commence soon to checkmate quacks in the system.

Speaking before the induction of new members of ISPON Lagos branch at Ikeja, Chief Udezi warned, that anyone not qualified to practice safety, when caught will be adequately visited with the punishment prescribed by law.

According to the ISPON Boss, the institute only needs the best in learning as certificates are awarded in character in learning and commended the zeal shown by the inductees

Chief Udezi, said certificates of members will be subjected to revalidation to ensure that only the genuine ones are practicing when it comes to safety in the country.

He added that a stakeholders engagement will be held in Port Harcourt in July to chart the way forward for safety.

Udezi described the newly inducted members as very lucky to have been taken into the fold and urged them to represent ISPON in good manners adding that there are great tasks ahead of them.

The president noted that with inductions done so far, more ISPON members are still needed to cover grounds across the country saying that the ‘ harvest is plenty but labourers are few’

Udezi said he would like to see the ISPON where other safety members from neighbouring countries will que behind ISPON in the country to be trained.

The ISPON Boss, recalled the genesis of the crisis in the profession which retarded progress of the institute for over ten years but expressed happiness that the issues have been resolved by the national assembly

In his message to the inductees, the Lagos branch chairman of ISPON Mr Shola Ogunleye, urged them to prove themselves noting that ISPON Lagos was a work in progress with a long journey ahead of them.

Mr Ogunleye commended them for their good conducts and admonished them to always maintain the professional standards always.

He stated that digitalisation for ISPON members was in progress and no analogue safety officers will be entertained in ISPON Lagos branch.

The ISPON Lagos chairman urged them to add value to the profession as ISPON now run five curriculum giving members the opportunity to rise.

According to Ogunleye, ISPON remained an avenue to make progress with the acquisition of certificates and advised that the ISPON certificates must be displayed always in their work place.

Responding on behalf of the inductees, miss Tanwa Morenikeji Adekola, thanked the ISPON Lagos branch executives for the interesting rigorous training they passed through.
