CHUKS OKOH,
As part of ongoing advocacy to strengthen state ownership of the SARMAAN programme, the Advocacy Project Team held a high-level engagement with Her Excellency, the First Lady of Bauchi State, Amb. (Dr.) Aishatu Bala Mohammed, in Bauchi State.
The meeting focused on securing Her Excellency’s commitment to serve as a SARMAAN champion, lending her voice to the programme’s growing advocacy for child survival across the state.
Following a thoughtful conversation on what the role would entail, the First Lady graciously accepted to be a SARMAAN,
Champion.
This engagement forms part of a broader set of stakeholder meetings in Bauchi State aimed at deepening government ownership and keeping child survival firmly on the state’s agenda. When state leadership steps forward to champion child survival, it sends a clear signal that protecting the youngest citizens is not a donor priority alone, it is a shared responsibility.
