WayvePay, the digital banking platform of Wayve Microfinance Bank, has surpassed 100,000 customers, marking a significant milestone in its growth and ambition to make everyday banking, payments and financial services more accessible to Nigerians.
The milestone comes shortly after the platform transitioned from Bankit to WayvePay, introducing a broader digital financial proposition under its new positioning, “WayvePay — Banking & Beyond.” The transition, which took effect on September 18, 2026, represents more than a change of name and identity; the platform is expanding its technology, functionality and range of services.
WayvePay brings together a growing range of services designed around the everyday financial needs of individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses. Customers can open accounts digitally, transfer money, make payments, pay bills, save, use debit cards and access business banking services, all through a digital-first platform.
The platform also supports biometric authentication, real-time transaction notifications, QR payments and convenient digital transfers, while customers can access essential banking services through WayvePay’s dedicated USSD channel, 347271#, providing an alternative for customers who may have limited internet access or prefer USSD banking.
Beyond everyday banking, WayvePay is expanding its savings proposition with options designed to encourage customers to save more consistently and make their money work harder. The platform is also developing additional financial solutions to give customers more ways to manage, grow and access their money.
For entrepreneurs and small businesses, Wayve Business extends the platform beyond personal banking, providing digital financial services covering payments, transfers, savings, cards and business banking. The proposition is designed to support businesses as they manage their finances, serve customers and grow their operations.
WayvePay is also investing in customer experience and technology. The platform has introduced multiple app themes, in-app banners and notifications to create a more personalised experience, while AI-powered customer support is being deployed to assist customers with common banking enquiries, onboarding challenges and routine transaction issues, with more complex matters escalated to authorised support personnel.
The platform is also deploying AI-enhanced security and intelligent transaction monitoring to identify unusual transaction patterns and potentially suspicious activities, complementing existing security processes and helping authorised teams respond more efficiently.
Speaking on the milestone, Kingsley Ezenwa, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing, said the 100,000-customer milestone represents both the progress made by the platform and the opportunity ahead.
”Crossing 100,000 customers is an important milestone for WayvePay, but we see it as the beginning rather than the destination. Our ambition is to build a financial platform that becomes part of how Nigerians move, save, spend, grow and manage their money every day.
”WayvePay is Banking & Beyond because we are going beyond simply providing an account. We are bringing together payments, transfers, savings, cards, business banking, USSD access, smarter technology and an increasingly personalised customer experience on one platform.”
The milestone follows WayvePay’s recent expansion of its customer proposition and comes at a time when Nigerians are increasingly adopting digital channels for everyday financial transactions.
WayvePay’s proposition also extends into investment and financial opportunities, including access to the Dangote Refinery share offer through the platform, giving eligible Nigerians an opportunity to participate in the ownership of one of the country’s major industrial projects.
The company said it will continue investing in technology, payments, savings, financial security, customer experience and new financial products as it works towards its next phase of growth.
With more than 100,000 customers now on the platform, WayvePay is positioning its next phase around deeper customer engagement, broader financial services and greater value for individuals and businesses.
