The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Michael Achimugu, has been named the Protocol Man of the Year by the Centre for Protocol Profession Development (CPPD) and the Council of Protocol Professionals (CIPP).
The prestgious accolade was conferred on him in recognition of his invaluable contributions toward advancing professionalism and elevating effective protocol management within the country.
The presentation took place on the sidelines of the 13th International Protocol Officers Conference, Workshop and Awards (IPOC 2026), hosted by the NIGAV Centre in Lagos, spanning from October 5 to October 9, 2026.
Mr. Achimugu, who was represented at the ceremony by the Assistant General Manager of the Education and Awareness Unit, Mrs. Ekeh Okam, expressed deep gratitude to the organizers for the honor and pledged to continuously uphold high standards in safeguarding the rights and obligations of both air travelers and operators across Nigeria.
The five-day multisectoral gathering, held under the theme “Diplomacy of National Interest,” drew over 150 participants from government institutions, diplomatic missions, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to deliberate on travel facilitation, diplomacy, and stakeholder relations.
