AVIATION EXPERT WANTS OSUBI AIRPORT UPGRADED

An aviation consultant, Chief Obuke Oyibotha, has called on the Federal government to up grade the Osubi airport to an international one as a result of the growing traffic to the airport

In a chat with our aviation editor, Chief Oyibotha,a frontline journalist and media practitioner, urged the government to acquire more land for expansion, expand the runway of the airport to about four kilometres and upgrade the terminal building to contain the teaming traffic

According to him, Osubi airport should be made to serve as an alternate to the Port Harcourt international airport, adding that the distance to Warri is about between one and two hours

Oyibotha noted with the the airport’s location traffic zone, it serve the Port Harcourt airport in terms of emergency

He called on Governor of Delta State and the minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development to collaborate and upgrade the long overdue airport to a standard or an international airport going by the traffic trends.

Oyibotha noted, that the airport will boost business and tourism in the oil rich region and urged government to expedite action on the project
